The oldest known history of Beykoz dates back to 900 BC. In 395 A.D. Beykoz was part of the Roman empire until the Roman Emperor Theodosyus the Great divided into the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantium) and the Western Roman Empire.
With its 3,000-year history, Beykoz is the first place in Istanbul conquered by the Ottomans. 51 years before the conquest of Istanbul by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, Beykoz was incorporated into the borders of the Ottoman Empire by Yildirim Bayezid. The Sultans and their court went to Beykoz for hunting and an escape from the city in the Ottoman period.
